Biomimetic/Adhesive Dentistry: Preserving What's Already There

Less drilling, more conserving. A look at adhesive techniques that protect natural tooth structure — and why that translates directly into better patient experience and longer-term outcomes.

Every tooth you preserve keeps doing its job — flexing, sensing, holding its own structure — for the rest of that patient's life. Adhesive dentistry gave the profession something it didn't have before: a way to make conservative and strong the same decision, instead of a tradeoff between them. This session is about seeing that opportunity clearly — where "enough" preparation really ends, and how much natural tooth structure you can keep working for your patient.

Conservation and longevity aren't in tension here. Done right, they're the same outcome.

Meet Your Instructor

Saul Pressner, DMD, FAGD, FABD has practiced dentistry in New York City since 1982. He earned his DMD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 1979 and a Certificate in Family Dentistry from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in 1981. He has served as President of the Academy of Biomimetic Dentistry since 2020, sits on the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine's Dean's Council, and has lectured internationally on biomimetic dentistry since 2016.

What You'll Learn

During this live one-hour webinar, you'll explore the principles behind minimally invasive, adhesive-based restorative dentistry — and how to apply them without compromising strength or longevity.

Key Topics Include:

  • ✓ The core principles of biomimetic dentistry — why "how much do I need to remove" replaces "how much can I remove"

  • ✓ How adhesive bonding techniques reduce the need for full-coverage crown preparation

  • ✓ Where biomimetic protocols fit alongside conventional restorative and prosthodontic approaches

  • ✓ What conserved tooth structure means for patients over the life of a restoration

  • ✓ Practical chairside techniques

Why Dental Teams Love This Approach

  • Directly impacts restoration longevity, not just aesthetics

  • Practical protocols the whole clinical team can support

  • Strengthens patient trust — less drilling is a message patients want to hear

  • Positions your practice ahead of the curve

  • Helps the entire team understand how to talk to patients about adhesive dentistry
